Which languages are supported?

Speech translation covers all major world languages, and the interface itself is available in 20 languages including Swedish, English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Hindi. The site follows your device language automatically.

Do I need headphones?

No. Headphones are recommended because the spoken translation stays private and there is no echo, but everything works on your phone's speaker too.

How does conversation mode work?

Each speaker gets a mic button: hold yours while you talk and release when you're done. The reply is translated the other way. You can also turn on auto-listen, which detects who is speaking and translates in the right direction without any buttons.

What is remote conversation?

Two people on two different devices. One creates a room and shares the 6-character code or link. You speak your language and the other person hears theirs — or use the text tab and send written messages that arrive translated. All translations in the room are billed to the person who created it.

Can I translate documents?

Yes. Upload a PDF, Word, TXT or Markdown file and get the whole document translated back as text, PDF or Word. The rebuilt file uses clean default formatting — images and complex layout are not preserved.

5 voice translations every day and 1 document page per day, without an account. The counter resets each day.

What do the plans cost?

Day pass 19 kr for 24 hours, Travel pack 49 kr for 7 days and Pro 99 kr per month — all incl. VAT, with 20, 50 and 500 document pages respectively. Prices are adjusted for local purchasing power in some countries, and the exact amount incl. your local VAT is shown at checkout.

Can I pay per page without a subscription?

Yes. If a document is bigger than your free or included pages, you get a quote before anything is translated and pay only for the pages you need. No account is required — enter your email at checkout and we email you a sign-in link with your pages ready.

Which payment methods can I use?

Accepted Answer

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal through Paddle, depending on your device. Paddle is the merchant of record and handles VAT and receipts.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open Account and choose Manage subscription or Cancel subscription. Pro renews monthly and you keep access until the end of the paid period. Day pass and Travel pack expire on their own — there is nothing to cancel.

Is my audio stored?

No. Audio is sent securely to be translated and is not saved. Translated text stays in your browser session, and the history is cleared when you leave the page. See the privacy policy for details.

Which browsers and devices work?

Recent Chrome, Safari and Edge on phone, tablet or computer. Microphone access requires a secure HTTPS connection, and the app asks for permission the first time you tap a mic button.

Can I install it as an app?

Yes. Universal Translator installs as an app from the browser — use "Add to Home Screen" in Safari, or "Install app" in the Chrome menu on Android.

Does it work offline?

Accepted Answer

No. Translation and speech run on our servers, so you need an internet connection. A stable connection also gives noticeably faster translations.
